The Billion Dollar Quest

exploring my creative potential…while trying to save the world

Billion-Dollar Plan

This is not going to be easy.  Even the first, simplest step is not so simple; most businesses fail, let alone become billion-dollar companies.  But obviously, I think it can be done, and I have a plan to make it happen.  At this point, my plan is a loose one, but that’s just the nature of this venture.

Although it’s now almost 15 years old, the internet is still a new and growing medium.  With the current proliferation of broadband and the ever-growing power of the personal computer, the internet is quickly becoming the medium to deliver information & entertainment.  It is very easy to imagine a world where computer and internet supplant TV, cable, radio & movie theaters.  People will make billions by developing the technology to deliver the content, but not me.  Hopefully I will be one of the people that makes billions by creating the content.  I am going to make the games people play, the films they watch and the stories they follow.  I have countless ideas for using the internet in an entertaining, enriching and compelling way, and I am going to develop them as I can.  If they are good ideas, and I execute them properly, I will stand poised to make my billions. If I am as creative and determined as I purport to be, it is going to work, and if I am not, it won’t.  That’s the plan.

Still not clear on how that might work?  Let me give you an example.  I think I have the capacity to develop excellent products in the game industry, TV/film industry & educational industry, so, let’s say that I spent the past 10 years working on a few projects in each of these areas. In that time, let’s say I created Sudoku, developed Brain Age, wrote/produced LOST, and wrote/directed The Lord of the Rings trilogy.  Certainly that is a lot of work, but it is more than possible to do in a 10 year period (given the resources of course), and had I done so, I’d be pretty close to a billion dollars.  I feel that I can produce 4 or more items of such caliber in the next 10-15 years, and perhaps a lot more. If nothing else, I am prolific.

In the coming years, there will be a wave of people who become famous for producing hit movies/shows from their garage.. people who circumvent the traditional hollywood-centric way of making video.  Already we have people strutting their stuff on YouTube and other such sites.  Well, I think I will be one of those stories. One day, I hope, millions of people will await the next installation of my current “show”.

That’s my plan, and I’m sticking to it.
