happy with my progress

so things are coming along pretty nicely with my playwithyourmind.com site rebuild.  I’ve had a number of very productive sessions and now have a large fraction of the backbone in place.  Today I started filling in the mind exercise section which is going to be a brand-new additon to the site and will feature the content I developed for able-minds (a site I made all up but never launched because I felt over-extended).

Anyway there is much much more to be done but I am pleased with my start and feel totally motivated and excited to get it done.   I imagine it’s going to take at least a month to do everything I have planned but when its complete I am going to have an amazing site so it will all be worth it.   Then I can go about the business of making my billion dollar quest advergame and generally getting more traffic and attention.  that will be a lot of fun when the time comes, but there is much to be done first…  ok back to work now.

a new chapter begins

Late last night I began a process that has been long overdue: remaking playwithyourmind.com.  For the past year it has been in a state of disarray as I have been more or less ignoring it.  There are games that aren’t working properly,  the registration process somehow collapsed and the look of the site is way out-of-date.  Because of these various problems, I have all-but-ceased promoting the site, and as a consequence, my traffic has been diminishing and interest in the site generally declining.  It’s time to reverse this trend and return the site to prominence.

I know I had mentioned that I was going to make the bdq advergame first, but I eventually decided that I wanted to have a better product to offer before I started doing marketing and promotion – which is basically what the advergame is all about.  While this move wont bring me as much immediate income, I think it represents  a better long-term investment of my time.  I mean, I have what is potentially a very valuable collection of assets – over a hundred brain games and exercises – that are more or less going to waste.  So I figure before I move on, I should solidify what I already have so all that the efforts I have already made begin to pay off.

In order to make this happen as fast as possible, I am updating the site live rather than designing it offline and updating it all at once.  For one, this is much easier for me to do, and secondly it will make the process much faster as I will be eager to fill in the holes and get the site all working again.  Doing everything offline, I would be more susceptible to delays or distractions as there would not be the same pressing need to complete things.

Ok, off to work.  Unfortunately, I am going away for a day+ this afternoon so not much will happen again until sunday, but I expect to do an awful lot in the next week once I settle back in.  I’m so excited to get things going again….. and give some much-deserved love to my neglected child… and my neglected dreams.

latest search engine standings

Here is this week’s report from ExactFactor on my search engine standings:  http://www.exactfactor.com/showreport2.aspx?id=36748&code=0EABEFE265614A528C358EB6BEBBEA37 .  It’s not quite as resoundingly positive as my previous one, but it’s all upwards at least as google is concerned, which is the main prize of course.  I also made some major leaps in a few terms which is nice to see and I expect this trend will continue as a result of my various efforts.  Today the site is featured in TheHomeSchoolMom.com’s newsletter which should give me more press and more links, and I just agreed to a link exchange with another good typing site which will help as well.  It’s only a matter of time before I crack that front page and then eventually, the top 5.
