more brainball updates

BrainBall is coming along swimmingly. At this point, it is totally playable and functional – all 10 rounds are working, all the stats are working and all the necessary data loads properly into the portal. All that I need to do now is

a) fine-tune the games
b) write the instructions for each level
c) make the brainball website
d) test the game thoroughly before release

Based on this, I feel very good about my orginal March 1 release date… however, I may push this back a few days so it opens on a Monday instead of the middle of the week.

delays & setbacks

well I have encountered a variety of delays and setbacks in the production of brainball … first of all, we had a visitor for the weekend which means I did nothing from friday – sunday. before that, I spent several hours making a level that I have since removed, so that wasted a bunch of time. I also realized that I forgot a major part of the project when outlining the remaining parts – the XML and PHP code to make BrainBall a daily game (I have to write a PHP program for each of the 10 levels that will output a daily XML file and then I have to adapt the Flash code so it reads the XML – this alone will take several days). Finally, I won nearly $1500 in online poker this week so that took up a bit of my time as well (although the money is very handy).

so now I aiming for my original relase date of March 1, which gives me a good two weeks to finish things up. if its not done by then, its no big deal, but I would like to get it live as soon as possible.

brainball updates

ive made a bit more progress on brainball… now have the basic architecture in place, most of the back-end code and the first two rounds (the two word games). i expect to make a lot more progress today… this is the only project I am really working on for the next week or more.
